Twice a year, MTA convenes gatherings of museum board members and senior staff to discuss and ignite conversations around topics essential to museum trustees today.
Over several days of programs and events, you will hear from experts, learn from peers, and dive into pressing topics that museums are currently addressing. Programming concludes with two days of exclusive collection tours for MTA Patrons ($1,500+ donors).
A schedule of events is below: registration is a la carte, but attending the full slate of events is encouraged.

Thursday, October 17
Welcome Reception at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 5:00-6:30pm
Join us for cocktails and hors d’ouevres to kick off MTA’s events in Cleveland at this iconic museum designed by I. M. Pei. Exhibits will be open during the reception, but we recommend an early arrival to view more of the 55,000 square foot museum. Dinner with Dennis Barrie at Neuvo Modern Mexican 7:00-9:00pm SOLD OUT! Dine with fellow trustees from across the country and hear from Dennis Barrie, former Director of the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) and former Executive Director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Dennis will speak about his experiences creating and leading thematic museums as well as his tenure at CAC, including the trial relating to the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition, The Perfect Moment. |
Friday, October 18Friday Forum at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland 9:00am-5:00pm
The Friday Forum is a day of panels, presentations, Q&A, and networking focused on current topics essential to museum trustees. Registration includes coffee, lunch, and a museum tour. Panels will focus on collections management, board diversity, building transformation, and construction planning from concept to completion. At the end of the program, moCa Cleveland Executive Director, Jill Snyder, will lead a tour through the galleries in the 2012 building designed by world-famous architect Farshid Moussavi. Dinner with David Abbott at the Cleveland Museum of Art 6:30-9:00pm Wrap up the day with dinner at the iconic Cleveland Museum of Art in the University Circle. David Abbott, Executive Director of The George Gund Foundation, will speak on the Foundation’s long-term commitments to Cleveland and its surrounding region. The Cleveland Museum of Art was founded in 1913 “for the benefit of all the people forever” and is proud to be one of the world’s most distinguished comprehensive art museums. |

Patron Weekend
MTA Patron Members (at the $1,500 individual or $2,500 dual levels) will enjoy a weekend of private collection tours, exclusive events, and fine dining in and around Cleveland. Our weekend in Cleveland will include an excursion to a 200-acre sculpture park, a two-floor apartment in a converted warehouse, and several private art collections.
