Lehigh University Art Galleries
We are excited to welcome Lehigh University Art Galleries to our member roster! LUAG is a teaching museum with a mission to inspire, develop, and promote visual literacy and cultural understanding through educational opportunities that transform the traditional classroom experience.
Opening soon with the start of the academic year are photography exhibition The Motion of Light in Water and exhibits Brit Pop Snapshot, British Abstraction: Three Views, and the Crochet Coral Reef.
One of the largest community art projects in the world, the Crochet Coral Reef is "an ever-evolving archipelago of woolen installations emulating the naturally occurring hyperbolic structures of coral reefs through the process of crochet." Using collective creativity to explore the global warming and oceanic plastic trash, this interactive exhibit will allow visitors to experiment with fiber and add to the Lehigh University Satellite Reef.
The museum is led by Dr. William B. Crow, who was appointed to the role last year following his acclaimed work as Educator in Charge of Teaching and Learning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
